Sol de Mayo Chardonnay 2009, Mendoza, Argentina 13%

Sol de Mayo, translated as the 'Sun of May', is a representation of the Inca sun god Inti and relates to the Argentine Revolution of May 1810. The wine is produced by Finca Los Almos from their vineyards in Mendoza in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The winery has 225 hectares with old vines dating back 60 years. Due to the high altitude and low humidity of the region, the vines are rarely affected by pests or disease so that little or no pesticides are used. Bright straw colour and fresh, clean aromas of mango, lemon, ripe peach and a hint of apricot. Refreshing pineapple and mango flavours with notes of lemon sherbet and grapefruit coming through on the finish. Medium bodied with attractive creaminess and an impressively long finish.
